Scientists at the University of Warwick in the UK and Fudan University in Shanghai have discovered a new way to predict the onset of dementia by protein biomarkers 15 years before the disease itself. This is reported in a paper published in the journal Nature Aging.
The researchers analyzed blood samples from 52,645 UK Biobank participants collected between 2006 and 2010. Up to March 2023, 1,417 people developed dementia and had dysregulated protein markers in their blood.
